Now is not the time to raise taxes

Montgomery County is more expensive than ever. Housing, property taxes, utilities, and childcare costs keep going up.

Now, there’s a plan from the Montgomery County Executive to raise taxes even higher. A 6% property tax increase, an income tax bump, and additional fees, as well.

I’m against it.

We can provide world-class services and support those in need without continuing to put pressure on residents and local businesses. Especially now, when thousands of our neighbors have lost their jobs because of Donald Trump’s cuts to the federal workforce.

We are in a new reality. The best way to respond is to shed the complacency, to stop doing business as usual, to work together to put forward bold and progressive solutions, and to lower costs – not raise them. I’ve laid out my plan for tackling costs and rebuilding our economic base here.

Families, seniors, young people, public servants, and frontline workers deserve leaders who will tackle Montgomery County’s affordability crisis head on. The future of this incredible community depends on it.

Thanks for reading, and I’ll be back in touch soon.
