Building the infrastructure our community needs to thrive

With over a decade’s experience helping to fund and implement infrastructure projects, I’ll work to help us make more progress, more quickly on the infrastructure projects needed to balance growth and improve our everyday quality of life.

Delivering on promised community infrastructure

Building infrastructure cheaply and efficiently is a big challenge for communities across the country, and a lot of times, Montgomery County hasn’t delivered the transportation, park, and community infrastructure we need. For this week’s policy series, I talked about a time when the County did get it right, and where I was part of the solution: the Great Seneca Transit Network. It used to take an hour to take transit from Shady Grove to the Great Seneca Science Corridor. I was part of the team that helped define and refine the Great Seneca Transit Network concept that built quick bus routes connecting transit with a major job center.

Advancing transit and green transportation

The Metro system is the backbone of our region’s transportation network. When I worked at the Council a decade ago, Metro was in some dark days, facing reliability, safety, and funding challenges. We worked to raise the alarm, and stakeholders across the region worked to achieve a 2018 dedicated funding deal to get Metro back on track. On the Council, I’ll be an advocate for Metro and for expanding access and transit options.

Addressing traffic safety

I’m proud to have the support of my friend and District 1 resident Daniel Langenkamp, who has been a leading advocate for making our roads safer. Over a decade ago, I helped bring Montgomery County into the Vision Zero movement to address traffic crashes. Watch our conversation to learn about the work we’ve done to make our roads safer and what more we can do to ensure everyone can safely drive, walk, bike, and roll in our community.
